Climate Deniers Hit Gingrich on Flip-Flop
Oh, this is going to be fun. Less than 48 hours after Newt Gingrich announced that he is running for President in 2012, he was already in trouble over his views on climate change. The problem? Back in 2008, Newt cut an ad for Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection with then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Great Liberal Villain of the Tea Party movement. It showed Pelosi and Gingrich sitting very close on a couch outside the U.S. Capitol.
“We don’t always see eye to eye, do we Newt?” Pelosi says in the ad.
“No, but we do agree our country must take action to address climate change,” Gingrich responds.
A conservative Republican, in cohoots with Gore and Pelosi, arguing that we need to take action to address climate change – imagine that! Key players in the Climate Denial Machine, such as web spinner Marc Morano, are holding Gingrich’s feet to the fire: “Newt Gingrich is arrogant enough to believe that he doesn’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else,” Morano told Fox News, and went on to predict that the ad was going to hurt Gingrich with the Republican base.
And Gingrich, of course, is acting like a hooker who woke up in bed with a cop. “I would reverse Obama’s entire pattern of being anti-American energy. I would start by saying drill here. Drill now. Pay less,” Gingrich told Fox.
