Multiple Choice Mitt
I’ll give Hillary Clinton this, she’s more consistent in her stance on Iraq than GOP hopeful Mitt Romney is on abortion.
In 2002, Clinton voted for the war. In 2006, she’s no longer for the war, without quite seeking to end it. And she won’t say she should have been against it. She wouldn’t have started it herself, of course. And knowing then what she knows now, she certainly wouldn’t vote to go to war again. But it wasn’t wrong at the time to vote to allow Bush to start the war. Because it wasn’t really a war vote in the first place. Or something.
Everytime Hillary tries to explain this, I want to whistle her for double dribbling. And then travelling. And then give her a technical foul for illegal defense. And another T for three seconds in the lane.
At least she’s not as cooked as Romney, though. Mitt went from being avowedly pro choice in the same year Hillary made her unmistakably mistaken war vote, 2002, declaring…
“I’ve been very clear on that. I will preserve and protect a woman’s right to choose — and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard.”
… to now flatly declareing that “I’m Pro-Life.” I think that makes him both a flip-flopper and a liar. Or something. Let’s just whistle him for a flagrant foul.
Seriously, how does a grown man — one who used to talk proudly about his mother’s bold, pro-life politics on the campaign trail — do a complete 180 on a subject as gut-level as abortion in his late 50’s?
