Jon Stewart: It’s Almost as if GOP Senators Are on JPMorgan’s Payroll
Jon Stewart watched JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon testify before the Senate Banking Committee this week, and came to the conclusion that, in fact, “the person hardest on Jamie Dimon … was Jamie Dimon.” Like, for example, when Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) told Dimon that it’s no big deal that his firm lost $2 billion after making risky derivative trades, because “we lose twice that every day in Washington.”
“Does Sen. DeMint think that spending money is the same as losing money?” Stewart wondered. “‘You know, I had $10 million here yesterday, but now all I see is this fucking highway.'” He added: “They’re sucking up to Jamie Dimon like they’re on JPMorgan’s payroll.” And in fact, the biggest campaign donor to many of the members on the Senate Banking Committee is … JPMorgan.
