‘House of Cards’ Ratchets Up Drama in Season Two Trailer
House of Cards returns for its second season on February 14th, and its world of power games and political intrigue is looking ever more savage. Netflix released an extended trailer for the thriller’s new installment today, following news of its four Golden Globe nominations.

“For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there can be no mercy,” Kevin Spacey says in the trailer’s voiceover. “And the butchery begins.” Spacey was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as the ruthless political shark Francis Underwood, while Robin Wright and Corey Stoll were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. The show also scored a nomination for Best Drama Series. House of Cards won three Emmys earlier this year, including David Fincher’s Best Director prize.

After a brief recap of the last season’s key moments, the new trailer offers a taste of the dark things in the works: The journalists wrapped up in the case look terrified, while Frank Underwood, who has ascsended to the vice presidency, appears to be meeting more dangerous opposition. The hints of plotlines go by in a blur, but it won’t take long to catch up on the new season’s developments once the premiere arrives, since House of Cards is designed for binge-watching. As with its first season, all episodes of Season Two will become available at once.
