YouTube Surpasses Four Billion Streams Per Day
YouTube is now streaming 4 billion videos every day, according to Google, the site’s parent company. This is a 25 percent increase in the past eight months, largely attributable to YouTube expanding its reach beyond computers to smartphones and television devices.
According to Google, around 60 hours of content is uploaded to YouTube every minute, up from an average of 48 hours of video uploaded in May. The company also disclosed that display ads integrated into YouTube pages have generated $5 billion in revenue in the past year, though most of the 4 billion videos streamed daily on the site do not make any money.
