Watch the Hilarious Trailer for Mike Judge’s ‘Silicon Valley’
HBO has shared the first official trailer for the upcoming, Mike Judge-created comedy Silicon Valley, which focuses on six computer programmers trying to build an empire in the titular California tech-mecca. This minute-and-a-half clip breaks down the series’ basic plot and offers up plenty of excellent one-liners from its core cast.
‘Girls’ Season Two’s Biggest WTF Moments
Lead actor Thomas Middleditch (who plays nerdy programmer Richard) is featured heavily in the clip, but the funniest moments come from the supporting cast, which includes Josh Brener (Richard’s best friend, Big Head), Kumail Nanjiani (Dinesh) and the eternally droll Martin Starr, who plays the acerbic Gilfoyle. The trailer finds the unlikely upstarts battling dim-witted executives and foul-mouthed local hooligans, and it’s very much in line with Judge’s trademark “us against them” sarcasm.
The finest moment is the climax, in which Gilfoyle answers the question “What do you do here?” with an epic nerd rant about technology and idiotic consumers: “What do we do? All those Youporn ones and zeros streaming directly to your shitty little smartphone, every dipshit who shits his pants if he can’t get Skrillex in under 12 seconds – it’s not magic; it’s talent and sweat. That’s what the fuck we do.”
Silicon Valley was written, directed and executive produced by comedy veteran Alec Berg (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm). The eight-episode first season will feature four directed by Judge, two directed by Berg, and one apiece from Tricia Brock (Breaking Bad, Girls) and Maggie Carey (The To-Do List).
The series premieres Sunday, April 6th at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
