Sarah Palin, Jimmy Fallon Mock Putin on ‘Tonight Show’
Being able to see Russia from her house has finally paid off for Sarah Palin.
The former vice presidential nominee stopped by The Tonight Show on Wednesday for a sketch that found her chatting about foreign policy and fighting bears with Russian President Vladimir Putin, played by host Jimmy Fallon. As Fallon points out, Palin predicted that Russia would invade Ukraine back in 2008, and in the bit, Fallon’s Putin calls up the Mama Grizzly to see if she has any suggestions as to what country he should take over next: “I’m thinking Finland, Sweden, I heard Jamaica’s nice this time of year,” Fallon jokes.
Palin, of course, advises Putin to get his troops out of Russia, after which the two crack wise about busted March Madness brackets and Palin’s fictional 6-year-old son “Bracket” who went out with “Track” and “Jacket” to shoot his first bear. “Interesting. You shoot bear. I prefer hand to hand combat,” Fallon says, adding: “I come from strong genes. President Obama, he comes from mom jeans.”

The two go on to bust out a goofy cover of Pharrell Williams’ latest hit “Happy,” with Fallon picking out the song’s hook on a Russian balalaika and Palin joining in on flute. Later, after Palin hops over from Alaska to deliver Putin a bottle of Vodka, the Russian president jokes that maybe he should invade Alaska next since it really is so close. “I wouldn’t if I were you, Vlad,” Palin responds. “You may be able to take down a bear, but you’re no match for a Mama Grizzly.”
