FarmBorough 2015 Is New York City’s First-Ever Country Music Festival
Country music will take a bite of the Big Apple in 2015 with FarmBorough, the first-ever country music festival taking place in New York City.
Set for Randall’s Island June 26-28, FarmBorough will be headlined by Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Brad Paisley. Also appearing during the three-day fest are Wade Bowen, Brandy Clark, Maddie & Tae, Kip Moore, Ashley Monroe, Randy Houser, the Cadillac Three and Dwight Yoakam. More acts will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“Country singers playing in New York is always a big deal, whether they’re playing the smallest club or bar, or Madison Square Garden,” says Bentley, who did the honors of announcing the festival on NBC’s ‘Today’ show Wednesday. “It’s a big deal to play here, so to combine that with a country music festival… that’s what we do in the summertime, we play a lot of fairs and festivals. To have one now in the city really justifies the moment that country music is having.”
In addition to Bentley and his fellow country hitmakers, FarmBorough will spotlight undiscovered talent with a “Next From Nashville” stage. Three-day passes, priced starting at $225 (plus applicable service charges and fees) will go on sale Thursday, November 6th. Three-day VIP packages with access to the Skyline Lounge, which will feature Manhattan skyline views, private bars and more, will also be available at FarmBoroughFestival.com.
“We’ve been dreaming about bringing a country festival to New York for a long time, and we feel like the time is right now,” says Brian O’Connell of Live Nation, which is teaming with Founders Entertainment to organize the event. “New York City is a global destination. Country fans from all over the world can come to the city and take advantage of all it has to offer, while enjoying three days of the best country music acts too.”
Signaling country music’s increasing popularity in the area, in 2013 the city welcomed its first country radio station in 17 years, Nash FM.
