See Kris Kristofferson Play a Sage Bartender in New Western
Kris Kristofferson serves up liquor, advice and plenty of gunfire in the new trailer for Traded, a Western film starring Trace Adkins as a sneering villain and Kristofferson as a drink-slinging, Wild West wiseman. Due out June 10th, the film follows Michael Paré, who played Eddie Wilson in 1983’s Eddie and the Cruisers, as he descends upon a Kansas town in 1883, looking to avenge his son’s death and reclaim his kidnapped daughter. Kristofferson and Adkins, both of whom released albums in 2013 and continue to tour regularly, have separately starred in a handful of Westerns during the past decade. Most memorably, Kristofferson portrayed President Andrew Jackson in last year’s Texas Rising miniseries, even contributing a slow, sad-eyed cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” to the production’s soundtrack. Meanwhile, Adkins acted alongside Val Kilmer in the 2012 flop Wyatt Earp’s Revenge and played the lead role in a 2013 remake of The Virginian.
Directed by actor and producer Timothy Woodward Jr., Traded will have a limited theatrical release in New York City, L.A., Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, Kansas City and Washington, D.C., before moving into the on-demand streaming market later this summer.
