Dolly Parton Finds Furry Friend in Glastonbury
Dolly Parton‘s inaugural performance at the Glastonbury Music Festival last month just might result in another first for the legendary singer: overseas adoption.

Witnessed by more than 150,000 fans in attendance, the live event also featured Metallica, Jack White, Arcade Fire and Lily Allen among the dozens of acts performing. It was live-streamed by the BBC, who reported the largest Glastonbury viewing audience ever had tuned in to watch Parton’s performance.
When the festival was over, crews were dispatched to begin clean-up duty and soon discovered a fluffy white dog who’d been left behind. The workers immediately christened her “Dolly.” A search for the dog’s owners was quickly underway and as the media caught wind of the story, the pooch was nicknamed “Doggy Parton.”
The dog is currently being looked after at Happy Landings, an animal shelter in Somerset. According to the Guardian, workers at the animal shelter described her as a “sweet-natured older lady.” The superstar entertainer says she plans to take the pup home with her, provided its original owners are unable to be located in a reasonable amount of time.
This isn’t the first time a four-legged Dolly Parton namesake has hit the news. In 1996, scientists in the U.K. gave the singer’s name to a sheep, the first mammal to ever be successfully cloned.
