See Sam Hunt’s Seductive ‘Girl Crush’ Cover
Covering Little Big Town‘s sexy hit ballad “Girl Crush” was all the rage last year, with several famous female artists performing the song in concert including Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert and even hard rockers Halestorm.
Sam Hunt now offers a male perspective on the award-winning torch song with a twist, covering it at the recent Association of Independent Music Publishers Nashville Awards at the Ryman Auditorium. His heartfelt performance — a tribute to Song the Year-winning songwriters Lori McKenna, Liz Rose, and Hillary Lindsey — received four thumbs up from LBT themselves via Twitter. Hunt himself also left with some hardware, scoring the Country Top Spot award alongside co-writers Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne for the most-streamed country song with “Take Your Time.”
This wouldn’t be the first time the Georgia native tackled a song originally sung by a female voice. During his Lipstick Graffiti tour, Hunt displayed his longstanding girl crushes by routinely performing an all-female medley of tunes including “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston, “Fancy” by Reba McEntire, and “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey.
