Brad Paisley Performs ‘Moonshine in the Trunk’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
Brad Paisley told Rolling Stone Country earlier this month that he wanted his next album to “feel like a party,” and he certainly accomplishes that with its title track. “Moonshine in the Trunk” is an uptempo adventure that could’ve been the soundtrack to a Dukes of Hazzard episode. (In fact, he namechecks a character from the TV show in the chorus.)
Brad Paisley Throws a Party With ‘Moonshine’
“Like there’s moonshine in the trunk/And blue lights on our tail/Like if we get caught/They’re gonna haul us off to jail/Like we’re helping out Uncle Jesse/Making a midnight run/Let’s drive tonight like this old town is dry/And there’s moonshine in the trunk,” he sings in the new tune, which made its television debut Tuesday night on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. (Watch above.)
To create the happy-go-party theme of the album, Paisley did a little construction inside his home studio. “I put it a bar in there,” he told us. “I actually built a pub at the end of the house…. I think a record should be a bit of a party, especially when you cut it like I do with non-hired guns. It’s my band — it’s the guys that you see on the stage with me and some co-writers that are always busy working with some lyrical changes with me.”
The country star also debuted the Moonshine in the Trunk album cover on Kimmel. See it here. The project is set for release on August 26th.
