Lucy Hale Films ‘Lie’ on the Opry Stage
Lucy Hale‘s new “Lie a Little Better” video is a big step towards separating her Hollywood and Nashville lives. Instead of acting out the lyrics to the clever love song, the Pretty Little Liars star chose to film the majority of the music video on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

Working once again with director Philip Andelman, who was also at the helm of her “You Sound Good To Me” video, Hale is shown in a few clips frolicking outside with friends, but most of the scenes are of the 25-year-old entertainer performing in the empty-seated Opry house and inside one of its dressing rooms, sprightly singing into a hairbrush. Hale made her real-life debut on the Opry earlier this month.
“Lie a Little Better” is the second single off the Memphis native’s debut album, Road Between. Though she’s not giving up her day job as “Aria” on Pretty Little Liars, Hale is both fulfilling a lifelong career dream and showing fans her true self through country music.
“I live in a world where I play characters and I don’t always get the opportunity to be myself,” she tells Rolling Stone Country of her TV job. “As a young female, it’s kind of weird to talk about your true feelings. You’re not allowed to be upset and you’re not allowed to be angry and you’re not allowed to be pissed off, and so with music you can kind of release all that. For me, it was a way of being okay to share my true feelings because I don’t necessarily always get to do that.”
