Watch Blake Shelton Play Charades with Kit Harington, Rose Byrne
Crossover country superstar Blake Shelton showed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde levels of emotional range on Friday night’s (May 13th) episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, tickling funny bones during a game of charades and then tugging at heartstrings with a performance of his latest hit, “Came Here to Forget.”
Shelton teamed up with his host for the charades skit, going head to head against Hollywood stars Kit Harington (Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow) and Rose Byrne (X-Men: Apocalypse) and showing why he’s become America’s favorite country goofball. At first he and Fallon appeared to be the worst charades partners in history, spending too much time picking on each other and no time at all guessing. After the buzzer sounded and the crowd roared, Fallon could only melt into his spot on the couch in frustrated defeat, apparently helpless to overcome Shelton’s non-stop ridiculousness.
But then it was time for Shelton’s performance, and everything changed — for about three minutes. After a little more Jimmy-ribbing, the lanky Oklahoma star flipped some internal switch and became the crooning main character of “Came Here to Forget,” a lustful revenge anthem that seems nearly autobiographical in the wake of his ongoing romantic saga. Bathed in blue lights and locked in to the track’s rebounding storyline, Shelton was like a completely different entertainer — until the song ended and he immediately went in to give Fallon a smooch. Watch it below.
“Came Here to Forget” appears on Shelton’s upcoming 12th studio album If I’m Honest, which comes out May 20th.
