David Crosby Sings Praises of Bob Dylan in New Animated Video
In a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone, David Crosby spoke to us about just how unique Bob Dylan was when he sprung onto the folk-music scene and why the “Blowin’ in the Wind” singer became the voice of a generation. In honor of Dylan’s 75th birthday, we’ve turned Crosby’s comments into the animated clip above.
“He was completely different than anyone,” Crosby says in the video. “I remember the first time I saw him at Gerde’s Folk City [in New York City]. I snuck in because I didn’t have the money to buy a ticket. I listened to him and I thought, ‘Well, fuck, I can sing better than that. What’s all the fuss about?’ Then I started listening to the words.”
Crosby would later cover “Mr. Tambourine Man” and several other Dylan songs with the Byrds and he would provide backing vocals on Dylan’s Under the Red Sky LP.
