Don Draper Gets Off a Plane in Thrilling ‘Mad Men’ Teaser
The first teaser for Mad Men‘s seventh season has arrived, and in classic form, the clip manages to divulge pretty much nothing about what’s to come while still being the most engrossing thing you’ll watch all day. In 15 seconds you see Don Draper getting off a plane in slow motion while putting on a hat. It’s awesome. The clip was originally set to a remixed version of “Que Sera, Sera,” though it’s since been changed to an optimistic, ambient drone.
Check out the most WTF? moments of ‘Mad Men’s sixth season
The trailer follows a set of images that teased the upcoming season while, again, providing no information or context about where the show will pick up after Don hit rock bottom at the end of the sixth season. Sure, it tells us Don will be hanging out in front of the Algonquin Hotel in New York City at one point, but who knows if that means he’s talking to a client because he got his job at Sterling Cooper and Partners back, or if he’s seeing a new mistress, or if he’s waiting for a taxi to take him to the airport so he can relocate to California – it sure did look nice and sunny in that teaser clip.
Which just means we’ll have to wait until Mad Men returns on Sunday, April 13th at 10 p.m. EST. Like Breaking Bad, the show will have its final season split into two seven-episode halves, with the final set, dubbed “The End of an Era,” scheduled to air next year.
“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” show creator Matthew Weiner said of the split last September. “The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this unique experience.”
