‘Full House’ Dads Soothe Jimmy Fallon to Sleep on ‘Late Night’
Nothing comforts a nerve-wracked late night talk show host like the dulcet, paternal tones of Danny Tanner. Last night, Jimmy Fallon got some patented fatherly advice from the Full House patriarch – plus Joey Gladstone and Uncle Jesse – when Bob Saget, Dave Coulier and John Stamos stopped by to soothe the Late Night host’s fears about taking over The Tonight Show.
The clip opens with Fallon tossing, turning and calling for “Dad,” when Saget enters, followed by Coulier and Stamos: “We just heard some sad yet sappy, heartwarming music. Is everything all right?” cracked Stamos, sporting an expertly crafted mullet. The cheeky bit includes a slew of Full House callbacks, including Coulier’s over-the-top impressions (he busts out his Johnny Carson and Jay Leno for the occasion), a classic “watch the hair” freakout from Stamos when Coulier bops him upside the head, and an all-too-brief cameo from Ranger Joe and Mr. Woodchuck. But what truly cheers Fallon up is when the Full House dads reprise their a cappella cover of Elvis Presley‘s “(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear.”
Uncle Jesse Gets the Band Back Together, Reuniting Jesse and the Rippers on ‘Late Night’
The Late Night appearance keeps the Full House reunion going full-steam ahead, with Saget, Stamos and Coulier’s new spot for Dannon’s Greek yogurt, Oikos, set to debut during the Super Bowl. Along with being photobombed by Rihanna, the trio recently hopped on Reddit for an Ask Me Anything session, where they regaled fans with Full House stories and showcased their still-snappy repartee.
When asked about their favorite Full House memories, Coulier remembered tossing his underpants onto the roof of his dressing room “for Bob,” to which Stamos added, “He would get them stuck in the rafters. Years later, when Full House wrapped up, Friends moved into the same stage, and I did a guest spot on Friends, and Dave’s underpants were still up there in the rafters.”
Saget also recalled the time he and Stamos freaked out a fan in the bathroom of the Laugh Factory in Hollywood when the two comedians suddenly started talking to each other as Jesse and Danny: “I turned to John and said in character, ‘How’s it going, Jess?’ and he said, ‘It’s going bad – Nicky and Alex won’t sleep’ . . . John then said to me, ‘How’s it going for you, Danny?’ and I said, ‘Oh, I’m having trouble. The ratings on Wake Up San Francisco are slipping,’ and that’s when the guy peed all over himself.”
