Watch Maynard James Keenan Practice MMA Drills in Luchador Ring
Maynard James Keenan practiced some MMA moves with UFC bantamweight star Cat Zingano on Puscifer‘s unique luchador ring stage piece, Loudwire notes.
Zingano posted the encounter on Facebook, noting the Tool and Puscifer frontman, and avowed wrestling fan, was working on trips and tie-ups. “No better way to get ready for a Puscifer concert then to be tossed on your arse in a luchador ring,” Zingano cracked.

Luchadores and wrestling have been a major part of the visuals for Puscifer’s latest album, The Money Shot. Music videos for the title track, “Grand Canyon” and “The Remedy” have all incorporated the sport, as did the band’s 2014 video for “Toma,” off 2011’s Conditions of My Parole.
Keenan has also managed to mix wrestling into Puscifer’s live show. The ring in which he and Zingano practiced takedowns boasts lucha libre matches before and during the band’s concerts, while Keenan and vocalist Carina Round will periodically sing from inside the ropes as well (à la “The Remedy” clip).
Puscifer will continue to tour North America through May 1st, after which they’ll head to the U.K. and Europe.
