Cloud Service Makes It Rain, Streams 7 Million Songs to PSP
Sony’s annoyingly named, all-you-can-listen streaming digital subscription service Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity is now available on the PlayStation Portable video game handheld.
With the purchase of a $3.99–$9.99 monthly plan, PSP users can instantly download and enjoy 7 million songs on-demand from a myriad of artists and record labels, including prominent indies. Subscribers also have the option to synchronize their music library across multiple Sony devices from Bravia TVs to PCs and PlayStation 3s.
A PlayStation Network ID is required to enjoy the cloud service, which lets you instantly beam down individual tunes and albums for on-demand playback to laptop or Blu-ray player. Compared by critics to Napster and Rhapsody, the service has drawn interest from some tech industry insiders, criticism by others for its high pricing and lack of ownership, as access to your music ends with your subscription.
