Watch Bruce Springsteen Perform ‘Badlands’ and ‘Shipping Up to Boston’ With The Dropkick Murphys
Last night Bruce Springsteen came onstage with the Dropkick Murphys at one of their hometown shows at Boston’s House of Blues to perform ‘Peg O’ My Heart,’ ‘Badlands’ and ‘I’m Shipping Up to Boston.’ It was a very poorly kept secret (the local media reported it in the morning), but the crowd still went absolutely insane – as you can see from this extremely shaky video of their set. The Dropkicks have guested at Springsteen shows in the past, but this is the first time that he’s returned the favor.

The Dropkicks’ new LP Going Out In Style features guest vocals by Springsteen on ‘Peg O’ My Heart.’ “All we told him was, ‘It would be great to trade off on verses,'” bassist and singer Ken Casey told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “You don’t really give the Boss instructions.” Opening up the show was Against Me, which features Max Weinberg’s son Jay Weinberg on drums. The young Weinberg filled in for his father on many shows on Springsteen’s 2009 tour when Max had to film The Tonight Show. Max was seen in the balcony last night proudly watching his son. This is the second time this week that Springsteen made an unannounced appearance at a show. On Monday he performed three songs with Darlene Love a the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and even sang a line from “Sweet Caroline” from the audience.
