Zynga’s PrivacyVille Turns Legal Policy Into a Game
Social games giant and FarmVille creator Zynga, which recently filed to go public, has turned its privacy policy into an interactive game called PrivacyVille.
Available immediately, the playable tutorial, modeled after hit game CityVille, teaches users about privacy-related issues including which user data the company collects and how to change message alert settings and updates. In return for clicking through its cartoon menus and simulated towns, rewards known as zPoints, redeemable for virtual items in Zynga games, are provided.
While less must-play digital diversion than online curiosity, it’s a relatively quick and easy experience to browse through, especially if you’re fond of current hits like Empires & Allies. More likely to entertain and be digested by players than a formal legal policy, let’s hope it starts a trend on other websites. We’d love to see to see what all the secretly repressed game designers currently employed as attorneys at Warner, Universal and Sony music can come up with.
