Pandora Adds a Dozen Workout Stations
Online streaming music service Pandora has added a dozen new stations determined to pump you up by providing a high-tech soundtrack to sweat by.
Designed for listening while you exercise, the Internet radio provider’s newest additions, grouped into their own ab- and thigh-toning genre, can also be customized to keep unwanted music from playing while pumping iron.
Allegedly introduced due to popular demand, Spandex-friendly stations run the gamut from pop to dance and pop, with nearly every genre from hip-hop to hard rock represented. Highlights include “’80s Cardio,” seemingly ripped straight off the set off Flashdance, and “Alternative Endurance Training,” which pairs Phoenix and Kings of Leon with extended attempts to hoist barbells and feel the burn.
While selections include the weird (“Country Fitness”), wild (“Classic Rock Power Workout”), and WTF (“Hard Rock Strength Training,” with help from Pantera), featured choices appear to serve up something for everyone. Even those who dispute the choice of The Cranberries or David Guetta as an accompaniment to Stairmaster or stationary bike sessions can always chill out to two dedicated yoga channels. Whatever your preferred poison, all remain available from PC or connected device, so you can shave off excess calories while hiking up your cross-trainers at home or the local gym.
