’24: Live Another Day’ Sets Spring Return Date
Kiefer Sutherland‘s Jack Bauer character will return to the airwaves on May 5th, when Fox premieres the first episode of 24: Live Another Day. As previously announced, the series will pick up years after 24’s final season, which ended in 2010, and will again feature Mary Lynn Rajskub as Bauer’s sidekick, Chloe O’Brien.
In this installment of the story, which Associated Press says will stretch over 12 episodes (and, by proxy, span 12 hours of Bauer’s life), the counterterrorist will be running loose in the streets of London.

In addition to the return of Rajskub, original series regulars Kim Raver and William Devane will resume their roles as Bauer’s girlfriend Audrey Raines and her father and U.S. Secretary of Defense James Heller, respectively. Live Another Day will also see the arrival of new cast members Judy Davis (To Rome With Love, Husbands and Wives) as a terrorist’s widow and Yvonne Strahovski (The Wire) as a CIA operative in London.
Sutherland recently expressed anxiety about revisiting the Bauer character. “I’m very nervous without putting ourselves out there,” he said during a press conference, according to Entertainment Weekly. “We made eight very strong years. . . To open that up again and make 12 episodes and not make them the best 12 we have ever made is frightening. I’m about as anxious and wound up as I’ve been in a long time.”
In addition to the return of the series, Sutherland said that making Live Another Day won’t preclude his interest in making a 24 movie. “There’s always an opportunity to do that,” he said. “But [showrunner] Howard [Gordon] came up for [a] 12-episode run of this and this opportunity presented to us first. It’s a fantastic idea. If this ends up causing a film to be made, so be it.”
