Google Pays Tribute to Les Paul With Interactive Logo
Google is honoring the 96th birthday of the late guitar innovator Les Paul with an interactive homepage logo that allows users to pluck and play virtual guitar strings. This is a fitting tribute to Paul, who not only invented the solid-body electric guitar, but was also a pioneer of multi-track recording and studio effects such as tape delay and phasing. Paul passed away in 2009 at the age of 94.
The Washington Post has created a diagram of keyboard letters that correspond to chords that can be played on the strings and keyboard numbers that can be hit to play major chords. The Post have also provided notation to play songs such as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” “Camptown Races,” and “Ode to Joy.”

The logo also gives users the option to record what they play and share it with friends. ?uestlove of the Roots, for example, has shared his rendition of the simple piano waltz “Chopsticks,” and the Techland blog posted this version of “The Imperial March” from the Star Wars movies.
