Watch Marco Rubio Try, Fail to Mock Donald Trump’s Spelling
Following a wildly contentious Republican debate Thursday that saw Marco Rubio finally get some jabs in on Donald Trump, the Florida senator kept the hits coming Friday morning as he mocked the GOP frontrunner’s spelling in a series of gloating, disparaging tweets.
In one since-deleted tweet, Trump bragged, “Wow, every poll said I won the debate last night. Great honer [sic],” with the misspelling of the last word an easy target for Rubio. “I don’t know how he got that wrong since the E and O are nowhere near each other on the keyboard,” Rubio joked to supporters in Dallas. Rubio also attacked Trump calling him a “leightweight” candidate in another since-corrected tweet. “Just like Trump Tower, he must have hired a foreign worker to do his own tweets,” Rubio said.
(In Rubio’s attempts to make fun of Trump’s spelling of the word “choker,” the senator actually reads from a tweet where the mogul repeatedly spelled the word correctly, resulting in an awkward moment where Rubio fails to recognize that “choker” is actually spelled “C-H-O-K-E-R.”)
It wasn’t just Trump’s spelling that Rubio mocked: Rubio teased Trump about his “sweat mustache,” how the mogul requested a full-length mirror (“Maybe to make sure his pants weren’t wet”) and how Trump would be the oldest person ever elected president.
