Watch Jack White Perform Two Acoustic Tracks at French Chateau
Jack White and members of his band set up shop in the gorgeous Saint-Saturnin Chapel at the Château de Fontainebleau outside of Paris to perform two songs for the La Blogothèque series, “Take Away Shows”: The White Stripes‘ “The Same Boy You’ve Always Known” and “Entitlement,” off White’s latest solo effort Lazaretto.
Directed by Colin Solal Cardo, the clip opens with White descending the chapel’s staircase with his acoustic guitar before joining bassist Dominic Davis, multi-instrumentalist Fats Kaplin (this time manning the mandolin), and fiddle player Lillie Mae Rische beneath a giant dome for a roots-y but busy rendition of “Same Boy,” which originally appeared on the White Stripes‘ White Blood Cells.
As if the scene couldn’t get any more beautiful, White and Rische then set up shop on the roof for a stripped-down version of “Entitlement,” with the pair’s plucky strumming and wheat-dry harmonies providing the perfect soundtrack as the camera takes in the stunning French scenery.
White — when he’s not throwing out first pitches and looking sad at baseball games — has been on the road regularly since Lazaretto‘s release earlier this summer, headlining a number of major festivals including Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Glastonbury (where he was even so kind as to troll fans with a Metallica cover). The musician is about to kick off yet another string of North American dates, starting on September 13th with a headlining set at the famed Farm Aid Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina. A full list of dates is available on his website.
