LCD Soundsystem Set First Reunion Shows in New York
LCD Soundsystem will play two shows at New York City’s Webster Hall March 27th and 28th, marking the group’s first live appearances since their monumental Madison Square Garden send-off in 2011.
The group fittingly announced the shows with a cheeky flier that read: “LCD Soundsystem will rise from the dead this Easter Sunday.” The opportunity to purchase tickets will be awarded via lottery, with winners receiving information on how to buy two tickets for one show on a first come, first serve basis. Winning the lottery, however, does not guarantee a ticket. Entry is limited to one per person and participants must be 18 or older.
Though stringent, it’s no surprise LCD Soundsystem are going to extra lengths to ensure fans get tickets to their first live shows in five years. Scalpers wreaked havoc on the box office when the band announced their Madison Square Garden farewell, leading LCD Soundsystem to plot four extra concerts at New York’s Terminal 5.
LCD Soundsystem’s two Easter shows will kick off the band’s highly anticipated second life. This summer, they’ll headline a slew of festivals, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and the inaugural Panorama fest in New York (Panorama is also helping to organize the Webster Hall shows). A new album is also in the works.
