Katy Perry Launches New Label Metamorphosis Music, Signs Ferras
Katy Perry has launched a new label, Metamorphosis Music, with Capitol Records and revealed the signing of pop singer Ferras, her first artist . She executive produced the L.A.-based, Jordanian singer-songwriter’s latest release, a self-titled EP, which Metamorphosis released digitally Tuesday. Perry duets with Ferras on the EP’s “Legends Never Die,” and she has invited him to appear as the support artist on her upcoming North American tour dates, viewable below.

“Ferras is a man with a message and a unique, lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen,” Perry said in a statement. “[The EP’s] ‘Speak in Tongues’ is a song with raw emotional power that I wish I wrote. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold. I am so ecstatic the world gets to hear his music now both online and on tour with me.”
Ferras, who signed with Capitol in 2007 and met Perry when both were new artists to the label, worked with his frequent collaborator, Sarah Hudson, on Ferras. “Speak in Tongues” tells the story of a stale relationship where, Ferras said, the couple begins “reigniting the spark and rebuilding intimacy rather than resentment.”
“Her instincts are really on point,” Ferras said of Perry. “She is very blunt and doesn’t sugarcoat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner.”
Below are Katy Perry’s upcoming North American dates, all of which feature Ferras. As previously reported, Capital Cities will also appear on dates between June 22nd and August 7th, Kacey Musgraves will pick up after them through August 31st and Tegan and Sara will round out most of the rest of the dates.
