Watch Trump Brag About Uneducated Voters, ‘The Hispanics’
Donald Trump clinched his third straight victory in the Nevada caucuses Tuesday, winning 46 percent of the vote. He celebrated with a rousing victory speech in which he boasted of his greed and his popularity with uneducated voters.
“It’s hard for me to turn down money because that’s what I’ve done in my whole life; I grab and grab and grab. You know I get greedy. I want money, money,” Trump said, explaining how difficult it is for him to reject campaign donations from his wealthy friends. “Now we’re going to get greedy for the United States — we’re going to grab and grab and grab.”
He thanked the coalition that carried him to victory: the young, the old, casino moguls, televangelists, highly educated and poorly educated voters. “I love the poorly educated!” Trump enthused.
There was one group Trump was most pleased to count among his legion of supporters, though. “You know what I really am happy about?” he asked the crowd. “Forty-six percent were the Hispanics. Forty-six percent! Number one with Hispanics. I’m really happy about that,” the man who called Mexican immigrants “criminals, drug dealers, rapists” said, before he was drowned out by chants of “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
He went on to reiterate his promises to “build the wall” with funds provided by the Mexican government — “They’ll pay for the wall. They’ll be very happy about it.” — and to declare his intention to re-open the Guantanamo Bay detention center, which, that morning, the Obama administration had unveiled plans to close. “We’re going to keep, as you know, Gitmo, we’re keeping that open. We’re going to load it up with bad dudes,” Trump said.
With his win in Nevada, Trump locked up 79 delegates. Ted Cruz has 16, Marco Rubio 15, John Kasich five and Ben Carson three. The next round of primary contests will take place next week, on Super Tuesday, when 595 Republican delegates will be up for grabs in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and Wyoming.
