Kanye West Strikes Back at the Press in Bonnaroo Return
Kanye West made a triumphant return to Bonnaroo on Friday night, headlining the festival six years after a disastrous debut there that found him hitting the stage at 4:30 a.m. to play to a dwindling crowd. During his 21-song set, he took the opportunity to air some grievances leftover from his first time around at the Manchester, Tennessee festival.

“Last time I got here, before I even arrived, they had ‘fuck Kanye’ on the motherfucking portapotties!” he told the crowd. “But this shit, we gonna piss on them, on their motherfucking portapotties!”
West also delivered some classic tongue-lashing against the media, asking the crowd, “How many of y’all give a fuck about what the press say?” and asking where the press was this time around. “Look at how they try to make me look,” he said. “They try to make me look crazy. And the people that write that, I don’t see them performing for 90,000 motherfuckers. They can’t even perform for their child.”
It wasn’t all about hard feelings, however. West gave passionate testimony regarding his own dedication to his work, and offered up some inspiring words for his fans, telling them, “I want y’all to know that anytime I’m in the studio, make a record, make a T-shirt, I give it everything I got. And when I talk that shit, it’s so you can talk that shit,” he said. “If you’re a fan of me, you’re a fan of your motherfuckin’ self. You can go out and do anything.”
In other Kanye West news, Rick Rubin confirmed that he’s working on a new album with the rapper. Rubin helped produce 2013’s Yeezus, and he talked about the collaboration during an interview on BBC Radio that’s set to air later this week, according to NME. “We’re starting looking at vocal ideas for things for the next album,” Rubin said.
