Lee Brice, Randy Houser and Jerrod Niemann Play the Opry — Video Premiere
Standing on one of the most illustrious stages in music history, country artist Lee Brice expresses his gratitude to a full house of fans. “I love the Opry… I’ve played everywhere and it’s still the only place that makes me nervous. It’s just so special,” he admits.
It was a check off the bucket list for Brice and longtime pals Randy Houser and Jerrod Niemann, who appeared on the Grand Ole Opry stage together for the first time. After years of collaborating, the guys had never gotten the opportunity to play the Opry with one another before last week’s show. “When I got the call to perform, I asked if I could invite Randy and Jerrod to join me,” Brice told the audience, “and tonight, with all of you, we’re getting to make one of our dreams come true.”
“I remember sitting in the back of the audience years ago, so excited to be there as a fan,” Houser tells Rolling Stone Country. “It’s such an honor every time I get to step on the Opry stage because it was a dream for so long, and to be sharing the stage with some of my best buddies made this experience really special.”
Each of the talented musicians added melodic harmonies to one another’s performances. During the traditional 30-minute Opry set, Houser sang “one of [his] favorite songs [he] has ever written” with “Like a Cowboy.” (Watch the performance above.) Niemann played an acoustic version of “Drink to That All Night,” a chart-topping single that was recently remixed into a dance hit featuring rapper Pitbull, and Brice sang his most recent chart-topper, “I Don’t Dance,” dedicating it to his wife who watched from backstage. (Watch Brice’s performance below.) The tear-jerking ballad was written for his bride on their wedding day.
All three artists are currently on tour. Brice performs a stadium show with Luke Bryan on August 15th in Philadelphia, while Houser is supporting Brad Paisley. Niemann, presently opening for Keith Urban, just announced plans for a headlining tour in the fall.
