Hear Kanye West’s New Single ‘All Day’ as a Rough Bootleg
Kanye West said in late July that he hoped to release his new single, “All Day,” sometime by mid-August. Now a drastically lo-fi leak of two minutes from the track, complete with the bootlegger coughing and talking over it, has made it online via Puff Daddy’s Revolt and is streaming below.
The track features a laidback beat, moody synths and a grinding chorus of “aaahh’s” as West shares verses like, “How long you niggas ball – all day, nigga.” Each verse contains a call and response tradeoff with that last line.
In an interview with GQ, West said that he tried to channel the types of lyrics that he would hear his Watch the Throne counterpart Jay Z offer up. He also explained how the direction of the track related to his most recent LP. “I say, ‘All day, nigga, it’s Ye, nigga,'” the rapper said. “‘Shopping for the winter, it’s just May, nigga. Ball so hard, man, this shit cray, nigga. You ain’t getting money unless you got eight figures.’ Right? Jay would have said that. And then eventually I would have came in with, like, whatever I come in with. But the balance of a meal is that when people walk in, they want water first. People definitely weren’t getting water first on Yeezus.”
West said he was hoping to put out a new record sometime between September and November. Originally he had planned the record to contain what he called “beautiful songs,” but eventually stumbled on a new direction that prompted him to abandon what he had been working on. “I got a new song that’s so good that the album has to be balanced against it,” West said told GQ. “This song is a song that can be in the club like ‘Don’t Like’ or ‘Niggas in Paris.'” The rapper has yet to reveal more details about when more music will come out.
