Watch Sara Bareilles Cover ‘Higher and Higher’ for Oprah’s TV Network
Last year, singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles released one of 2013’s most uplifting songs with “Brave,” a track so invigorating, Taylor Swift attests that she pops it on when she’s having a low-self-esteem day. The song’s sentiment surely appealed to Oprah, who has a full section of her website dedicated to “Inspiration.” And now Bareilles has teamed with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, recording a bright version of the 1967 Jackie Wilson classic “Higher and Higher” that’ll air on OWN to promote the network’s summer lineup.

The video shows Bareilles in the studio, laying down her soulful, breezy cover and dancing at the mic. Along the way, the promo features glimpses of celebrities like Lionel Richie and Pharrell (who recently shared the tearful inspiration behind his mega-hit “Happy”). OWN is encouraging fans to spread their own inspirational messages using the hashtag #HigherAndHigher and sharing videos and photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Justin Timberlake, who’s had a few memoral appearances on Oprah’s talk show, will be the featured guest on the season premiere of Oprah’s Master Class, which returns Sunday, May 11th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. And another musician — rapper Saigon — will appear on the season premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life alongside reality star Erica Jean on Saturday, May 10th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
