Watch Alice in Chains Play ‘Check My Brain’ in New Special – Premiere
Nearly 30 years after they started making music, Alice in Chains are playing the type of live shows fans dream about, energizing their sets with new tracks but still playing their biggest hits. On Sunday night, you’ll be able to watch one of those performances when the band appears on a new episode of Guitar Center Sessions. Today, you can stream an exclusive clip from the episode where the group takes on 2009’s “Check My Brain.”
Last year, in an interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Jerry Cantrell discussed how releasing new LPs affects their live shows. “It’s always great for us because we get new shit to play for people, and alongside of that we’ve been fortunate to have a pretty long career and have a lot of material that people react to,” he said. “There’s really not any song in our repertoire that you can’t play live… It’s kind of a lost art these days, to actually play your stuff without having to have some tracks to help you out.”
The full performance will air Sunday at 8 p.m. on DirectTV’s Audience channel. The final two episodes of the season will feature Chvrches (August 10th) and Cage the Elephant (August 17th).
