Watch the Gripping, Menacing Trailer for Tom Hardy’s ‘Taboo’
Tom Hardy emerges from the heart of darkness and enters the treacherous world of 19th century shipping in the first trailer for the actor’s upcoming miniseries, Taboo.
Created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and based on a story by Hardy and his father, Chips, Taboo is set in 1814 and follows James Keziah Delaney, who returns to London from Africa to inherit and rebuild his late father’s shipping empire. The trailer offers a look at Delaney’s wiles and boldness, which border on madness, as he takes on the notorious East India Company and encounters a slew of nefarious characters.
Taboo is set to air in 2017 on FX and BBC One. The eight-episode drama series was directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, while Ridley Scott served as a co-producer. Taboo also marks the third collaboration between Hardy and Knight, following their 2013 movie, Locke, and Peaky Blinders, in which Hardy has a supporting role.
Hardy is coming off a huge 2015 in which he starred in Mad Max: Fury Road, pulled double duty in Legend and appeared alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant. Hardy also garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Alejandro Iñárritu’s wilderness epic.
