Will Ferrell Delivers Inspirational Address to U.S. Soccer Fans
The U.S. Soccer team will have a secret weapon at their disposal when they kick off against Germany in a crucial World Cup match Thursday: Will Ferrell — even though, by his own admission, he’s not in the best shape right now.
Don’t Stop Believin’: The U.S. Begins Its World Cup Journey
Ferrell stopped by U.S. Soccer’s fan headquarters in Recife, Brazil Wednesday night, joining U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati and everyone’s favorite puntastic president, Teddy Goalsevelt. In a rousing, inspirational address, the comedian promised to “live up to the spirit of this American team,” and said he would do whatever it took to win, even if it meant following in the footsteps of notorious Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez: “I will bite every German player if I have to!”
If you plan on skipping out on work today to watch the game, keep an eye out for Ferrell in the stands: He’ll be the guy sitting next to Teddy Goalsevelt in the red, white and blue bikini. Now that’s patriotism.
