Marilyn Manson to Guest Star as Barber/Surgeon on ‘Salem’
Marilyn Manson will add a new role to his eclectic acting résumé when The Pale Emperor rocker guest stars as a barber/surgeon on the upcoming third season of the supernatural drama Salem. Manson will play Thomas Dinley, “the go-to man in Salem, from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up,” the show said in a statement. Salem‘s third season went into production Thursday in Shreveport, Louisiana, Forbes reports.
Although Manson will be making his Salem debut, the shock rocker is no stranger to the WGN series: Manson, along with Salem composer Tyler Bates, transformed the singer’s Pale Emperor track “Cupid Carries a Gun” into the show’s main theme. The track debuted when Salem premiered in April 2014, eight months before The Pale Emperor was released.
Manson previously appeared on TV series like Californication, Eastbound & Down and Sons of Anarchy; Manson’s SOA co-star, Walton Goggins, ended up appearing on Manson’s song “Slave Only Dreams to Be King” as a preacher.
“Talk about having a bucket list item that you didn’t know was on your bucket list,” Goggins told Rolling Stone of the collaboration. “Marilyn was a friend of [Sons of Anarchy creator] Kurt Sutter’s, and he asked him if I might want to do this. So he calls me, and I was like, ‘Have you heard me sing? I can’t fucking carry a tune!’ But he just said, don’t worry, I have an idea and you’d be perfect for it. So the very first time I met him, it was at his house, recording that song.”
Recently, Manson also portrayed a Native American hitman in the crime drama Let Me Make You a Martyr.
