Brad Paisley Looks to Firefighter Father for New Song
Brad Paisley‘s new album, Moonshine in the Trunk, won’t be released until August 26th, but he’s firing up anticipation for that project with a pair of contributions to another. Paisley performs two new songs for the animated Disney feature Planes: Fire & Rescue, including “All In,” which he penned after hearing the film’s firefighting themes, and “Runway Romance,” written by director Roberts Gannaway and Danny Jacob.

“My father’s a firefighter,” Paisley said in promotion for the children’s film. “He was my whole life. And my brother-in-law and several family members are firefighters. I was really honored to pay tribute to them. I sat down after seeing a rough cut of the movie and it came to me very quickly. My dad was president of the volunteer fire department, which was within walking distance to our house. I spent several days of each week there with him — any time the whistle blew, he went. It was truly inspiring to watch him lead that way. It’s a strange and wonderful mentality that these people have. They get so excited about that opportunity to help. My favorite line in the song is, ‘Where there’s smoke and flames, and everybody needs out, I’m all in.'”
Planes: Fire & Rescue is the sequel to 2013’s Planes, itself a spin-off from Disney-Pixar’s Cars franchise. Paisley, himself an amateur animator, contributed two original songs to the first of the film series in 2006 and a pair of tunes to the 2011 sequel as well.
The country superstar also makes a cameo appearance in the upcoming film as a pickup truck in Honkers Sports Bar. The Planes: Fire & Rescue soundtrack will be released by Walt Disney Records on July 17th with Planes: Fire & Rescue in theaters the next day.
