Of Montreal, Foxygen Front Polyvinyl’s New Singles Series
Of Montreal, Foxygen‘s Jonathan Rado and Blikk Fang — the collaboration between Of Montreal‘s Kevin Barnes and MGMT‘s Andrew VanWyngarden — are among the 12 artists set to partake in the second installment of Polyvinyl’s 4-track singles series, which will deliver a new two-song 7-inch on colored vinyl to subscribers every month throughout 2015.
Like last year’s inaugural series, a handful of musicians were asked to record on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder, which was then mailed from artist to artist. The rest of the Volume Two roster includes the Dodos, Ducktails (Matt Mondanile of Real Estate), Deerhoof, Kishi Bashi, David Bazan, Telekinesis, Crooked Fingers, Jacco Gardner and Saint Pepsi.
Each 7-inch will come packaged in a sleeve boasting artwork from Jesse LeDoux, who has created album covers for the Shins, Death Cab for Cutie and Iron and Wine. Subscribers will also score an exclusive poster designed by LeDoux and a custom-designed box to store all 12 records. Each month, three lucky subscribers will be chosen to receive a free test pressing of that month’s 7-inch.
Subscriptions are still available over on the Polyvinyl website, with the number of participants is limited to 1,000.
