Zac Brown Sits In With Billy Joel
The Zac Brown Band is slated to play Fenway Park in Boston tonight and tomorrow, but the group’s namesake leader got a sneak peek at what it’s like to play next to the Green Monster last night when he popped up during Billy Joel‘s performance.

Joel was nearing the end of his two-hour show when he announced a special guest. “I’m playing one night at Fenway Park, but this guy is playing two,” he said as Brown ambled out wearing a fedora and a big grin, clearly excited to play with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
The “Chicken Fried” singer and the “Piano Man” traded verses and harmonized on a raucous take of “You May Be Right” to the delight of the surprised sold-out crowd.
Brown and Joel not only shared the spotlight last night but they’re literally sharing a stage as well: The Zac Brown Band will play their own sold-out shows at the home of the Boston Red Sox on the same basic structure that Joel used last night. Perhaps Joel will return the favor?
Brown and his Zac Brown Band, who have been known to cover Joel’s “Piano Man” in concert, are also set to play two nights in Charleston, South Carolina, October 11th and 12th, as part of his Southern Ground Music & Food Festival.
