Watch One Direction Reflect on Their ‘History’ in New Video
One Direction has revealed the video for their latest single, “History.” The track appears on Made in the A.M., the group’s fifth album and first without Zayn Malik.
The emotional clip for the folky single begins with the group’s own starting point. Before showing the current-day quartet performing in front of a brick wall, the clip features black-and-white footage of the then-teenage boy band auditioning for The X-Factor. The video carries on with glimpses of their early days and behind-the-scenes shots of videos and documentaries intercut with scenes of the group singing the reflective new track. The video ends with One Direction walking away from each other, waving goodbye.
The song had been unveiled prior to Made in the A.M.‘s official release. On Twitter, Niall Horan revealed that he and longtime One Direction co-writer Julian Bunetta had brought fans in “to record the chorus as like a crowd vocal.” Member Liam Payne recently shared the sentiment of how much the song belongs to the fans. “So happy everyone’s enjoying [‘History’],” Payne tweeted. “It’s like the fandom’s theme tune/anthem.”
One Direction have no plans to tour in support of Made in the A.M. They are currently on a hiatus, taking a “well-earned break,” as stated by Horan last August.
