Luke Bryan to Play Brooklyn
Brooklyn just got a little hipper – or make that “hippier.” Famous hip-thruster Luke Bryan is set to play the New York City borough on September 14th. A stop on Bryan’s That’s My Kind of Night Tour, the performance will mark the inaugural country concert at the Barclays Center.

Home to the Brooklyn Nets NBA franchise, the Barclays Center has hosted concerts by Jay Z, the Rolling Stones and Justin Bieber, but Bryan is the venue’s first Nashville act. Two days earlier – September 12th – the “Play It Again” singer will perform across the East River at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
The incursion into Brooklyn, however, reinforces the foothold that country music has established on New York and its surrounding areas. In January 2013, the Big Apple’s first country music radio station in 17 years began broadcasting as NASH FM 94.7. And in 2005, the Country Music Association moved its annual CMA Awards north to New York for the first time in its history. That night, Keith Urban, Rolling Stone Country‘s first interview, was named Entertainer of the Year.
