Little Big Town Join Team Blake on ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton has a strong “pain killer” for his battle rounds on Season 7 of The Voice: Little Big Town. The country quartet is set to join Team Blake as advisers on the wildly popular NBC talent competition show.
Little Big Town’s ‘Pain Killer’ Intoxicates
“If you are a country music fan, you already love them,” Shelton tells Access Hollywood. “But if you are not necessarily someone who listens to country radio all the time, you are gonna find out who they are, and it’s gonna be a big deal.”
LBT’s Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook are longtime fans of the show and old friends of Blake’s. Coincidentally, the band recently recorded backing vocals for a new song with Shelton’s better half, Miranda Lambert, called “Smokin’ and Drinkin’,” from Lambert’s new Platinum album. They’ll join The Voice just about a month before their own new album, Pain Killer, hits shelves.
With three wins under his belt (with Jermaine Paul, Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery), Shelton holds the record for the most Voice victories. The country superstar and frenemy Adam Levine are the only two coaches who have competed on the show every season, and will this year go up against Voice newbies Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams.
“Let’s not beat around the bush… I’m looking forward to mopping the floor with the other three coaches’ asses,” Blake jokes.
Stevie Nicks will mentor Team Adam, while Stefani has recruited husband Gavin Rossdale to help with her team. Williams’ Voice sidekick has yet to be announced.
The Voice Season 7 premieres September 22nd.
