Stevie Nicks Watched YouTube Videos of Herself for New Album
Many artists lament the fact that YouTube is filled with bootlegs of their unreleased music, but for Stevie Nicks, this proved to be a tremendous gift. Her entire upcoming album – tentatively titled 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault – consists of newly recorded versions of obscurities she found on the song/video-sharing website, according to Billboard. The disc, produced by Dave Stewart, guitarist Waddy Wachtel and Nicks herself, is slated to hit shelves in October.

At the BMI Awards, Nicks revealed that she recorded the songs in just three weeks, which she says is a new record for her. “We went onto YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever,” she recently told the Associated Press. “And we went to Nashville (and recorded them). So they’re like all starting from like 1969 maybe? I call them my 24 karat gold songs.”
“24 Karat Gold” was originally recorded during the sessions for Nicks’ 1981 LP Bella Donna. The other tracks from the LP have yet to be announced. Nicks’ last album was 2011’s In Your Dreams. Much of her time since then has been devoted to Fleetwood Mac. The group hopes to release a new album with Christine McVie when they wrap up their upcoming tour.
