Read Courtney Love’s Heartfelt Christmas Letter to Kurt Cobain
Courtney Love recently shared a vintage holiday photograph of herself, then-husband Kurt Cobain and daughter Frances on Instagram, thanking the Nirvana frontman for giving her their daughter, “the gift that makes life worth living.”
Love says the image represents a moment when she was “on top of the world,” calling Cobain “the greatest true love I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
The musician also posted an Instagram selfie “snuggling with Princess or now General Leia herself,” Carrie Fisher, calling their visit the “best way to wrap up the Christmas evening.”
In May, Love debuted the grungy new single “Miss Narcissist” following a string of performances with Lana Del Rey on her Endless Summer Tour.
“It’s so hard for rock and roll right now — it’s so hard,” the singer told Humanity in June. “I have someone really close to me who is in a rock band and they’re excellent — they’re the best rock band I’ve heard in years — and they signed an old-school deal with Interscope. But it’s really a struggle and it’s a struggle just to be middle class. I’m not talking big houses and art collections. I’m talking about just getting by.”
She also talked about switching her creative focus to acting over music. “In rock and roll, it’s really about being as vulnerable as possible and giving them what they want,” Love said. “But onstage it’s about pausing, about internal life, it’s about internal triggers — that’s one of the reasons I’m really challenged to do a play.”
