Chris Brown: Vegas Assault Accusation ‘Unequivocally Untrue’
UPDATE: Brown will not be charged in the alleged assault, according to the Associated Press, due to lack of evidence.
Chris Brown has denied that he was involved in an alleged assault that occurred following the singer’s Friday night concert at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. On Saturday, Las Vegas police department confirmed to The Associated Press that they were investigating Brown as a suspect in an alleged battery. While the LVPD would not discuss any details of the ongoing investigation, TMZ – with permission from the alleged victim – reported that the incident involved a woman named Liziane Gutierrez.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Brown’s representative denied the allegations. “Making false accusations seems to be a pattern of behavior for Ms. Gutierrez. Whatever her motives, her statements are unequivocally untrue,” the singer’s rep said.
In Gutierrez’s version of the events, as told to TMZ, Brown assaulted her after she snuck her cellphone into the singer’s suite and took a photo, drawing the ire of Brown, who allegedly yelled at her and punched her in the eye. Gutierrez claims she then left the party and, a few hours later, called police; she did not seek medical attention at a hospital.
However, Brown’s rep paints a different version, telling Rolling Stone that Gutierrez was escorted out of Brown’s private after-party for “being disruptive and out of control.” While waiting for Brown’s security to bring out her phone, Gutierrez allegedly had a “total meltdown,” which was witnessed by both partygoers and the Palms’ security cameras, resulting in the hotel’s security assisting in removing her from the resort.
“Her claim that she had her phone in her possession inside the after-party and was able to take a photo causing an altercation with Chris Brown is a complete fabrication,” Brown’s rep added.
In March, Brown was officially taken off felony probation, six years after the singer assaulted Rihanna at a 2009 pre-Grammys party. While a judge ruled that Brown had finally satisfied the conditions of his sentence to close the assault case, Brown continues to feel the repercussions of the incident: In December, his Australian tour was canceled after immigration officials declined to give Brown a visa due to the Rihanna assault.
