Tom Petty to Include New Album ‘Hypnotic Eye’ With Concert Tickets
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will release their first album in four years, Hypnotic Eye, on July 29th and launch a North American tour just a few days after, on August 3rd. But Petty has tied the album closer to the tour than most artists do; every ticket purchased will include a copy of Hypnotic Eye.

Beyond including the album with tickets, Petty is also releasing the album in a variety of formats for fans who want to go deeper. Hypnotic Eye will be available on high-resolution Blu-ray audio and vinyl formats; the latter format will be available as either a single LP or, for those who want a track unavailable on any other format, a double-album. People who preorder the download of the album will receive the first of what Petty promises will be several album tracks revealed prior to the release date.
“I knew I wanted to do a rock & roll record,” Petty told Rolling Stone in April. “We hadn’t made a straight hard-rockin’ record, from beginning to end, in a long time.”

Petty is also releasing a digital live album to his fan club members. Live 2013, which comes with the purchase of Hypnotic Eye, contains 11 tracks that Petty hand-picked from the Heartbreakers’ 2013 theater residencies in New York and Los Angeles, as well as the Heartbreakers’ Bonnaroo appearance.
The upcoming tour includes headlining appearances at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in early August and the Arrington, Virginia’s Lockn’ Festival in early September. Special guest Steve Winwood will join Petty on the trek. Tickets for the majority of dates go on sale Saturday, May 31st.
