The Strokes Book First U.S. Show in Three Years
The Strokes are set to play their first U.S. show in over three years at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York on May 31st, ahead of their headlining show at this year’s Governors Ball in New York City.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday May 16th, though Strokes fan-club members will be able to purchase them on Wednesday May 14th at 10 a.m. EST, while Governors Ball ticket holders and Citibank members will have access on Thursday May 15th.
The Strokes are set to play Governors Ball on Saturday June 7th, and while single day general admission and VIP tickets for that day are sold out, a limited number of three-day passes and VIP tickets are still available.
Frontman Julian Casablancas is also scheduled to play a second Governors Ball set, this one alongside his new backing band the Voidz, with whom he’s expected to release a new album sometime this year. While a release date and album title have yet been revealed, Casablancas offered up a preview of his blistering, more experimental punk sound in this clip and during a vicious, banter-filled set at Coachella.
Meanwhile, the Strokes have remained relatively quiet since releasing their fifth album, Comedown Machine, last year. In recent interviews, Casablancas said the band is trying to book a few shows and record some new songs in the near future, but right now they’re focused on improving the band’s overall vibe.
“I want to be friends with the Strokes,” he told Chilean news outlet Cooperativa, before interrupting himself. “We are friends, you know what I mean? Just to make it work – from just sitting down and having coffee and hanging out to being on-stage and performing as a unit. Just have it all be positive friend vibes. That’s the thing that brings us together, and then we do some Strokes stuff, too.”
