Death From Above 1979 Showcase Live Show on ‘Trainwreck 1979’ Video
Fresh off releasing their first album in a decade, Death From Above 1979 have also unveiled their first music video in that span with “Trainwreck 1979,” off the group’s new album The Physical World. The video, which premiered over at Noisey, intersperses a young female fan standing up front at a packed Death From Above 1979 concert, skateboarding barefoot down suburban streets and filming herself practicing the bass guitar. While the video may lack plot, it is beautifully photographed.
In addition to the video, Death From Above 1979 also brought an explosive, rapturous “Trainwreck 1979” to The Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday night. Death From Above 1979’s The Physical World, Sebastian Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler’s first album under the DFA1979 moniker since their trailblazing 2004 debut You’re A Woman, I’m a Machine, was released earlier this week.
“This Canadian noise-punk duo made one promising full-length album in 2004 before calling it quits. Returning a decade later, they’re still crushing violent, angular riffs (see the hellacious “Government Trash”), but they’re also writing catchier songs that bring out conventional rock influences,” Jon Dolan writes in his Rolling Stone review of The Physical World. The band will take their new album out on the road this fall, including a November 14th performance in Los Angeles that’s part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in L.A.
