“The 2010 interview I did with Billy Joel was one of my favorites of my career,” Stern said in a press release. “Now, this special hits a whole new level, with surprise guests whose lives have been changed by Billy, from the unknown to the famous, giving Billy the tribute, and fans the treat, that they deserve.”
The “Town Hall” is scheduled to air at midday ET on Stern’s SiriusXM station, Howard 100 (channel 100), Joel’s own exclusive station on channel 4 and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio app.
SiriusXM’s Billy Joel Channel launched March 26th and will run through June 25th. The channel features the musician’s biggest hits alongside rarities, previously unreleased live and studio cuts and tracks from A Matter of Trust: The Bridge to Russia, Joel’s upcoming live album documenting his 1987 Russian tour. The channel is also scheduled to air new and archival interviews with Joel and members of his touring band as well as excerpts from his “Masters Class” sessions with music students around the world.
Joel teased the satellite station during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, telling Jimmy Fallon: “I guess they want me to program some music that I like to listen to and talk about what we like to listen to on the road or what we do. I don’t know. I guess I’m going to wing it.”
